Se Young recently participated in her school's Academic Bee as well as its Mathcounts and National Junior Forensic League competitions. In her spare time Se Young enjoys fishing and shopping. She loves to read, and her favorite book is Apple Island. Her favorite sport is basketball. Se Young speaks Korean and Japanese, and her trip to Washington for Bee Week 2009 is her first trip to the continental United States.
