Sam is driven by his interest in cars, electronics, and science. When he is not studying the theories of black hole formation, he enjoys athletics and participates in basketball and track. He also performed a lead role in his school choir's musical, The Christmas County Spelling Bee. Sam hopes to pursue a career in automotive engineering. He participated in the 2008 national finals.
