Daniel is an accomplished musician who plays piano, guitar, violin, and harmonica. He performs in a variety of settings: in his church, with a regional folk music society, and with his county orchestra. In school he enjoys being a member of the academic bowl team and participating in track-and-field activities. He hopes to become an author of books for young adults. Daniel's brother Charley participated in the 2004, 2005, and 2006 national finals, tying for 10th place in 2006.
