Josh relishes the outdoors, particularly snowmobiling in the winter and riding his dirt bike or ATV in the summer. With his sights set on becoming an Eagle Scout, Josh has experienced a wide range of weather extremes while camping. His coldest overnight experience in a tent this past winter was a balmy 12° F. His sister Megan participated in the 1998 and 1999 national finals, his sister Elizabeth participated in the 2006 national finals, and Josh participated in the 2007 and 2008 national finals.
