Music plays a large role in Michael’s life. In his school’s band, of which he serves as president, he is a trombonist. He also plays keyboard in a rhythm and blues band. He enjoys acting and this year played Willy Wonka in his school’s production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Computer science and math are two of Michael’s main academic interests. A Davidson Young Scholar and a member of the National Junior Honor Society, Michael has been recognized for his participation in a university talent search. He is Star rank in Boy Scouts.
